The 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod unveiled their midterm progress on the RACE 16:16 initiative during the SPeaks event launch on April 17, 2024 at the SM City Butuan Event Center. Led by City Vice Mayor Lawrence 'Law' Fortun and SP members, SPeaks became a platform to inform the public about SP’s current structure and legislative process, codification, and digital advancement, showcasing their commitment to transparency and community engagement. Vice Mayor Fortun showcased significant progress, with 8 new local ordinances and codes already approved. SP members are aiming to finalize additional codes in the 3rd quarter of the year, exceeding their initial plan. This aligns with the Codification and Harmonization goals of the RACE 16:16 initiative. SPeaks marked a turning point for Butuan City. By launching the RACE 16:16 initiative, the 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod opened the door to a more inclusive and progressive future for all Butuanons.
