Task Force Kadiawan To Intensify Operation in Butuan City

In the last regular meeting of Task Force Kadiawan held at the City Administrator’s Office last Febuary 7, 2008, chaired by Asst. City Administrator Adeodatus Itao who represented Atty. Webb L. Racaza, it was learned that some revisions of forms used in the inspection/re-inspection of business establishments for “Operating Without Mayor’s Permit” and other violations of some local ordinances are to be implemented in the next scheduled operation next month.

EO No. EO 92-02 and 74-2003 of the local government signed by Mayor Democrito D. Plaza II creating “Task Force Kadiawan” to inspect, re-inspect existing business establishment which harbor a high level of human traffic, recommended for immediate closure of those found unsafe as in violation of existing laws, review their public safety and disaster preparedness plan, & ensure strict implementation of the Building Code, Fire Code and other pertinent local ordinances.

Through this Executive Order, the Kadiawan Team is given the authority to re-check business establishments operating within the city and determine its safetiness to the public or if these establishments violated any local ordinances. These two (2) teams are tasked to re-inspect business establishments where each Kadiawan Task Force Team consisted of members from various office which is well represented such as City Health Office, City Environment and Natural Resources, City Legal Office, Bureau of Fire Department, Zoning (City Planning Office), City Engineering Office, Tourism and Administrator’s. Each member office has specific function relative to the conduct of the day to day operation of business establishments.

According to Mr. Paul Cabrera, Team B Leader, during their last operation sometime in 2007, violation amounting to more or less Thirty Thousand (Php 30,000.00) Pesos was added to the city government’s coffers apart from the other violations committed in terms of building code, fire, sanitation, and others. Additionally, Team B confiscated some fruit games and illegal video karera were also fined.

 

6M Van Terminal to Replace Old Butuan Medical Center

In the recent ocular inspection of Mayor Democrito D. Plaza II at the old site of Butuan Medical Center, Langihan, this city, Engineer Enily Gayon, Chief, City Engineering Office has confirmed that the program of works for the proposed van terminal in the said area is now complete and work will soon start anytime this year.

The proposed terminal has an estimated budget of more or less Six Million (6 M) Pesos equipped with comfort rooms and waiting sheds. Meanwhile, a total rehabilitation of the old comfort rooms along with the repair of Langihan Premium Market will also start where additional stalls will be constructed to accommodate more small scale business proprietors.

It can be recalled that the old site of Butuan Medical Center used to be the “Ukay-Ukay” area where some of our Muslims Brothers conduct their trade. The streets within the vicinity is now cemented resulting to manageable traffic, de-clogging of drainage, and replacement of busted lights.
