Programang Katawhan successfully launched

The summer months of April and May 2011 have been a busy period for the office of City Vice Mayor Lawrence Fortun, as he launched the Programang Pangkatawhan, a public service program in support to the welfare services of the City Government of Butuan.

The program comprised three welfare services: Operation Tuli, Operation Gupit, and Legal Services.

The Operation Tuli and Operation Gupit segments were conducted in 19 barangay venues, serving constituents from 25 barangays.  A total of 1,605 young boys were circumcised, and given antibiotics and pain relievers for their recuperation.  760 residents got free haircuts.

Legal services were rendered on May 1, 2011 at Barangay Imadejas.  The 44 beneficiaries were issued either a joint affidavit     of delayed registration of birth by two    disinterested persons, or a joint affidavit of legitimation.  Prior to the summer period, free legal services for the same type of affidavits were rendered on March 17, 2011 at Barangay Bitan-agan. The notaries public   who served were Atty. John Unay, Atty. Riza Culima, and Vice Mayor Fortun, who himself is a lawyer.
