Synchronized Distribution of Katas ng VAT: Tulong Kay Lolo At Lola
Former City Mayor Hon. Daisy B. Plaza distributed the Katas ng VAT (Value - Added Tax) to 936 Senior Citizens at the City Hall Lobby today , November 4, 2009.
According to Madam Daisy , who gave an inspirational speech, fthe 25 % VAT from the revenues collected by the LGU is finally returned back to the city through the Senior Citizens’ Benefits. Also, she proudly said that Hon. Mayor Democrito D. Plaza II is recognized all over the Philippines and received an award for the good practices he instituted for the welfare of the elderly at the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).
Meanwhile Councilor Randolph "Doy" Plaza initiated also the “free cataract operation” at OSCA, a program that is implemented only by OSCA in the entire nation.
The simultaneous distribution of Php 500.00 per beneficiaries in the four (4) distribution areas was headed by Hon. Councilor Randolph "Doy" Plaza and assisted by some SP Members. Present during the event were personnel from DSWD Regional Office headed by Ms. Mercedita Habagat and some Barangay Chairmen.
Katas ng VAT is a program under the PGMA’s administration.
NUMBER OF BENEFICIARIES IN THE 86 BGYS. OF BUTUAN CITY: 2,316 Senior Citizens
Amount to Be Received Per Senior Citizen: Php 500.00 each
4 Distribution Areas: City Hall Lobby, Ampayon, Libertad, Tungao
Criteria to avail of the Program:
1. Senior citizen must be 70 years old and above
2. Doesn’t receive any form of pension
3. Only (1) Senior Citizen Per Family
4. Must HAVE VALID Senior Citizen I.D.
