dsc03334.png

Butuan City has projected that the registration and  renewal  of business permits  this January  will reach P90 Million , this was disclosed by Ms. Josefina Morta, Assistant City Budget Officer, this City.

Based on the report from the City Assessor’s Office, the City Treasurer’s office made a total assessment of Php 48, 455,855.68 from January 4 to January 14, 2009 from business  registration and renewal of business permits alone. This will definitely increase as the deadline approaches.

A total of 194 new business registrations were reflected with 3, 424 business renewals entered in the report with an actual collection of Php10,934,374.01 million during the second week of operation of BOSS. Take note that the above projected collection does not include professional tax, real property tax and other revenue sources.

As of November 2009 the total income of the city reached to Php898,394,472 against its targeted collection of Php1,192,779,059 for the same year.

The city government has offered additional services to the public like a stand-by water and coffee accessible to all visitors and tax payers situated at the city hall lobby all through out the operation of BOSS. Meanwhile the elderly, differently abled , pregnant women and senior citizens are given an express lane where they can freely transact business free from the crowd and all the hassle while a big TV screen is posted where transacting clients can watch and enjoy while waiting for their turn. Clients’ tension and queue will be relieved in just a minute soothing ones nerves by way of a tender loving massage free of charge from the trainees of ButuanCity ManpowerTraining Center under  the auspices of Dr. Aurora Zaportiza, the training center director.

The total projected income of ButuanCity for the year 2010 is expected to increase as compared in the past year due largely to the implementation of the tax revision and tax holidays for new business entrants. In the 2007 report of COA, Butuan City generated a gross income of P811 million  making it the 28th richest city in the country. The city is aiming to reach the billion-peso mark this year and to enter the billionaire's club. 5 cities in Mindanao have already joined the elite club, namely, Davao, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and General Santos. Hopefully, Butuan will be the sixth city from Mindanao to enter the elite club of billionaire cities.
