BCPO Members Praised for Successful Hostage Operation

Forty three (43) officers of the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) were formally conferred commendations by the 12^th Sangguniang Panlungsod in its 4^th Regular Session conducted on July 26, 2010.

They were credited for saving Ms. Rona Burias Radaza, a former City Hall employee, and her six-year old son, Artemio Karlo B. Radaza III from being held hostage by a 16-year old teenager, Junrey Mabanhog at Y8 Internet Café, located at M. Calo st. which the victims’ family owns, on July 09, 2010.

These members of BCPO responded efficiently in neutralizing the hostage situation , prevented a bloodshed and saved the lives of the victims from the suspect, who was found out to be an avid player of a violent computer game, “GTA San Andreas,” and a fan of a hostage-taker named “Andot Behing.” After his apprehension, the suspect was charged with Attempted Murder, Grave Threats, Grave Coercion, and Violation of RA 7610, or the Anti-Child Abuse Law.

The 12^th Sanggunian Panlungsod’s commendations for these policemen are cemented in 43 successive duly enacted resolutions, SP Resolution 10-2010 to SP Resolution 52-2010 to especially mention each and every one of them with all the salutes the city can express.
