Peace and Order
• 7 Traffic Light Systems were constantly monitored in the continuing effort to effectively manage Butuan’s traffic system.
• 523 persons were recipients of emergency related assistance and 43 families were extended emergency shelter assistance of P2,000.00 each;
• 13 Family Bantay Droga Organizations were formed in the barangays.
• The Walk-in Clinic at the Butuan Medical Center showed pronounced decrease of 20% drug dependent cases last year.
• Skills Enhancement Training for the Barangay Tanod and the Institutionalization of Katarungang Pambarangay are some inputs collectively provided by the city Mayor’s Office, DILG and DOJ.

 
Strengthening the Foundation of Development
  • It means better chances for sustainable improvement in the general welfare of Butuanons, grounded on sounds economic foundations, improved productivity and an environment supportive to business investments
 
Infrastructure
• Realization of the 2nd Magsaysay Bridge
• The 1.962 billion infrastructures, with a length of 10.87 kilometers. This project links the Surigao- Butuan and Iligan-Cagayan-Butuan City roads.

• The Completion of the Pigdaulan Modular Bridge will increase farm productivity and easy mobility to 1,893 farmers in the area, excluding the adjacent barangays that are influenced by the project.
• The City Engineers Office repaired and maintained 97.5 kms of 59 barangay rural roads an 52.5 kms of urban barangay roads.
• The 36.5 hectares D.O. Plaza Regional Government Center for CARAGA Region is undergoing land development, with road construction appropriating P17.5 M.
 
Provision of Irrigation and Utilities
• The Butuan City Water District (BCWD) installed 25,139 connections as of 2004, benefiting barangays Balanghai-Paradaise, Maug, Baan, Banza and Mangoville.
• Total cost of the project is P21,604,804.21 serving 418 hectares of farmland.
• The total number of service connections for different types of consumers reached to 42,237, an increase of 5.3% from 40, 104 in 2003.
• The total amount expended for the improvement of street lightings was P1,016,471.5.
• The DPWH-Butuan District complemented the City’s infrastructure needs with a total of twenty four (24) Public buildings/facilities amounting to P18.05M.
• Thirteen (13) of these projects were implemented with funding assistance from the office of the President, seven (7) projects from the Party list funds, two (2) from the Senatorial Allocation and two (2) from the congressional Allocation of Congressman Leovigildo B. Banaag.
 
Daisy for PR and other livelihood Projects
  • The Development Action of Intersectoral Synergy (DAIsy for PR), the administration’s flagship project for livelihood expanded its original beneficiaries to six groups with a total of 86 individual beneficiaries organized and trained.
  • From the amount released by the City Government in 2003, a rollback of P63,000.00, or 12.14 % was collected as of the end of 2004.
 
Economic Development
  • The City’s Manpower Development Initiatives garnered for Butuan the Regional and National SPECIAL AWARD for the LGU’s support to the Community Training and Employment Coordination- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority programs.
 
Support to People’s Organizations
  • The City Government made use of technology, research and partnership building as groundwork to a comprehensive investment promotion campaign. Through the Trade and Industry Development Division, a homepage at www.butuancib.net and the Human Resource Information System website were uploaded.
 
Agriculture
  • Agriculture provides the backbone of the economy. To increase productivity in terms of crops, fishery and livestock.

  • To control rabies infection, the Butuan City Pound continues to monitor and capture stray animals
 
Management of City Economic Enterprise
  • The Mayor Salvador L. Calo Supermarket, Bus Terminal, Jeepney Terminal, taboan Center and Memorial Park collected total revenues of P27.6 M.
  • All the economic enterprises underwent to its facilities and physical structure, resulting to a clean and well-organized facilities.
 
Support to Butuanons Who Want to Work Abroad
  • A resolution was passed that will provide P3M assistance to Butuanons who are applying for job abroad to help them defray cost of processing and expenses.
 
Tourism
  • The total tourist arrivals for year 2003-2004 had a significant increase of 13.20%.
  • The breakdowns of tourist arrivals show a 12.49% grow rate fro-domestic tourists and 41.97% for foreign tourists.
  • Most foreign visitors came from the USA with February and May as the highest month of arrival in 2004.
  • The estimated tourist expense in the City is approximately P935, 527,500.
 
National Level Follow Up
  • Proposed Butuan City Inland port
  • The project will establish a port complex in the Masao-Lumbocan-Upper Pagatpatan area that will offer the best facilities in the Agusan-Surigao-Davao Oriental-Compostela Valley area.
  • The Project will facilitate the realization of the polycentric network development defined in the Caraga Regional Development Plan for 2005-2010.
  • Success in the growth of the economy should be measured not merely in terms of the returns that accrue to investors or the job opportunities to the people.
